I am one of the Turturiello that came from Uruguay. My father and his father were both named George (Jorge) and both born in Uruguay. I know my great-grandfather Pascual was born in ItaHily. His cousin was Pope Pius XII (don rocco). I design rehab equipment .

There are only about 20 or so individuals with the last name "Tortarolo" in the US. Two families are represented: one came from Sestri Levante (20 miles or so south of Genoa) in 1905 [found mostly on the West Coast] and the other came from Finale Ligure (Italian Riveria north of Genoa) in the mid 1920s and are found mostly on the East Coast [New Jersey and Florida]. The Tortarolo contacts I have made in Italy say that Tortarolo as we spell it came from Northern Italy. In the Genoa telephone directory of several years ago, there were 39 Tortarolos listed.

My name is Dolly Ann Stafford (Turturillo or Turturiello or Tortorillo or Tortoriello). By now, you can see why I'm asking for help. My father was born in Chicago, but returned with his family back to Italy in the late 1800's. He then returned to the states after WWW I broke out in Italy, as he claimed his U.S. citizenship. He had a brother, Danato (Danny) that was here before my father returned to the states. My father left a young bride in Italy who's maiden name was Carmella Muppo from Belvano. Belvano is also where I believe my father is from. Neither my mother or father could read or write. There's where the problem lies, I can not find the correct spelling of the last name. We always went by Turturillo. Would you have any information in this regards. I may also have a half brother that migrated to Argentina by the name of Gessuippe Turturiello. Once again, uncertain on the spelling. My father may have had seven siblings in the family that may have died early one while in Italy.

I have just received a old picture of my mother and father when they were newly wed, I think that would be the date of the picture. That would have been around 1900-1920. I figure my mother came to the states around 1920 while my father was here for the prior nine years making a home for her. I had three sisters, Mary born in 1921, Lucy born 1912 in Italy, another sister Louise born 1953. Mary and Louise have pasted. I had three brothers, Tony born 1924 living in Florida, James born 1922? deceased, Donald born 1926 deceased.

It appears my father spelt his name (keep in mind he could not read or write) Turturiello. If I didn't mentioned this below, my father's name was Vincent. His father's name was Anthony and his mother's name was Lucy Rago. My dad's date of birth was July 25, 1891, born in Chicago.

That's about it in a nutshell. If any of this ties in the your wife's family please let me know. I appreciate it.

My name is Edna Marie Tortorella. My fathers name was Frank Joseph Tortorella Sr.. His father (my grandfather) William Tortorella. we have six children in our family myself Edna marie, 4 sisters, judy, sue, chris, mary and Frank Jr. I would like to find out if I have any family in italy. I have 3 aunts left on the tortorella side. My father and the 2 of his brothers (William Jr. and Christopher) are all deceased. I really don't know any other names. if there is any information or even better a direction you can lead me in i would greatly appreciate it.
